The training and certification of the medical professional who performs eye surgery may vary depending on the type of procedure. The eye is a delicate and fragile sense organ comprised of many components. The internal workings include the retina, cornea, muscles, iris, pupil, sclera, and optic nerve. The external workings include the eyelid, lashes, tear ducts and surrounding tissue.
These sense organs provide us with one of our five most valuable senses. The eyes provide our vision which allows us to learn and ascertain information throughout our lives. Those without vision have a much more difficult time and rely more fully on their other four senses of hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling. There are Braille alphabet books, signs and more to assist visually impaired individuals. The Braille methodology is comprised of tiny bumps upon surfaces that are read by a person's touch.
